While I disagree that the historical differences between makam usages have regional origin (especially regional origin within Turkey), and I would contend that makams form because of an interest in transmitting a large amount of musical knowledge in one word, I do agree with this comment and is often why I avoid talking about the minutiae of makams. This description that [USER=1605]@Sadikkara[/USER] gave fits the repertoire of today, and in fact is in pretty good agreement with the pieces you presented; but in certain periods it did not, and we should not be puzzled if a piece that was considered to be one makam would, in contemporary times, be considered something else.
